Coming Soon

September 29th, 2009

I’ve had a busy week of recording, and here’s what I’ve got coming in the next few days, as soon as I can get them edited.

  1. Brett Porter - Maven
  2. Christian Wenz - Web Application Security
  3. Filip Hanik - Tomcat
  4. Grant Ingersoll - Lucene

Episode 61: Randy Terbush

June 25th, 2009

Before there was the Apache Software Foundation, there was the Apache Group, a group of, originally, eight people, who devoted their spare time to create the Apache Web Server using the NCSA web server as a basis, and eventually rewriting it from the ground up.

Leading up to the tenth birthday party for the ASF in Oakland, at ApacheCon this Fall, I’m hoping to get in touch with all eight of these people and talk with them briefly about their involvement in the early days of the project. Some of them are harder to get in touch with than others.

First, of course, I spoke with Brian Behlendorf. In this episode, I speak with Randy Terbush, who was in the original eight, and was part of creating the foundation.

You can listen HERE, or via iTunes.

Busy summer

October 30th, 2007

It’s been a bit quiet on the site during the summer! For that we apologise, but rest assured it wasn’t sue to a shortage of interesting activity at the Apache Software Foundation! Rather, it was due to both of us having a lot going on in our real world lives which meant we had less time than we had hoped to bring you regular feathercasts :-(

We hope to remedy that soon - starting with our coverage of ApacheCon US 2007!

We hope to not only release a number of episodes during the event, but also record a large number of interviews to release following it. Of course, if your project won’t be represented at AC US and you think you’d like to talk to use, just drop us an email and we’ll make the arrangements!

Both of us are presenting at the conference, so we look forward to seeing you there!

Episode 30: ApacheCon Europe, ApacheCon Hong Kong

May 4th, 2007

ApacheCon EU, in Amsterdam, just finished, and it was a great conference. I didn’t get very many recordings done, and those I did were all on the last day. So you should hear those in the upcoming weeks.

ApacheCon Asia is going to be in Hong Kong later this year. I speak with J. Aaron Farr about the conference, and about the reasons to come to Hong Kong.

The recording is 7 minutes, 10MB, and is here.

Lightning Talks

July 30th, 2006

The “Lightning Lottery Talks” are always a popular part of ApacheCon. This year, I managed to sneak my microphone up onto the podium, and get a pretty good recording of most of them. Except for Geir, who insisted on not standing at the podium. :-( (Presumably because I didn’t actually tell anyone I was recording.)

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be running some of the lightning talks, so you can get a feel for what they’re like. Most of them don’t quite work if you’re not there, but you’ll get some of the flavor of it.

Apache Derby

June 12th, 2006

We’re hoping to talk with Jean Anderson about Apache Derby at the start of July. If you have questions - you know what to do!

Jakarta

June 2nd, 2006

Henri Yandell will hopefully be talking to us soon about the Jakarta Project, so if you have questions post them in a comment or email us :-)

The Incubator

March 31st, 2006

We’re hoping to record an interview with Noel Bergman. He’s currently chairman of the Incubator PMC, so if you have questions around the workings of the incubator then please add a comment with your name and question. Please keep the questions general and not specific to any particular project within the incubator.
